Dubai Old Town Study

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

On the mandated rest day midway through the COP28 global summit, my coworkers and I decided to explore old Dubai.

I was in Dubai covering COP28 for Yale School of the Environment, and the rest day was a welcome break from the frenetic pace of Expo City. An abra ride across Dubai Creek can be had for just a few coins, and we spent the day touring the old souks full of spices, textiles, and gold. We ended at the Dubai Frame, a sleek observation deck positioned as a literal window between old Dubai and new.
